Contoural Announces Seminar Series on Issues Facing Legal and IT under the New Federal Rules of Civil Procedure

Mountain View, Calif. New amendments to FRCP as of December 1, 2006 require organizations to address e-discovery issues at the outset of litigation. The new rules are forcing companies to reassess their strategies for litigation hold and discovery, focusing on electronically stored information.

The seminar series will feature Mark Diamond, chief executive officer and president of Contoural. He will provide legal and technical perspectives on the issues of e-discovery and FRCP. In addition, he will discuss the impact of these new federal rules on organizations and cover other aspects of litigation readiness.

FRCP requires a company to know what information it has, where it is stored, and how to find it very quickly. It is imperative that companies be litigation ready, creating effective policies that can be successfully executed from an IT perspective. Legal departments need to define the policies for retention, disposition and discovery. IT departments must respond to strict requirements around the preservation of email and document files, and they need to be prepared to testify regarding the preservation and production of documents relevant to litigation matters.
