Get Past Your Past Announces "Get Past Your Breakup" Book and Seminar
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 17, 2007 -- When "Get Past Your Past" (GPYP) founder Susan Elliott started her blog last year she had no idea she was branching into new territory or that one post would send her blog's popularity through the roof and be the beginning of a new seminar and a new book. The book is now finished and the registration for the seminar is now open.
Elliott is the founder of the motivational GPYP program which teaches you how to overcome your past and have a successful future. Her personal story of success from a foster child in the Bronx to a lawyer, real estate broker, motivational speaker and author has helped the seminars do well, but she never thought that her survival through a bitter divorce would be the big draw for her students.
"When I got divorced I was a shell-shocked failure who had no job, no education and 3 kids to care for. I had no money, no self-esteem and no one who thought I could ever be anything or do anything."
After she raised her children, returned to school, became happily remarried and came back to her native New York to practice law she decided to speak to others who might be feeling helpless and hopeless.
The GPYP seminars were offered by the Learning Annex and then through her own company and have done well. She started a daily motivational blog laced with personal stories last fall. As the holidays approached, she was deluged with email from readers asking how to get through the holidays after a recent breakup. On December 5, 2006 she published an entry called "After the Breakup". The rest, as they say, is history.
The post was and continues to be the most popular entry on the blog.
"It shot to the top the week I wrote it," Elliott says, "And 25 weeks later it's still number one on the hit parade." In response to the comments on the entry as well as a mountain of email, Elliott followed up with many other post- breakup posts, and recently started a Yahoo email group, and a NYC meetup.com group.
An "After the Breakup" book beckoned when the breakup entries were being read by thousands and the email became non-stop.
"I didn't find the book," she says, "The book found me." She spent months refining and organizing the blog material and adding other material to it. The book is finished and a winter release is planned.
In response to the request for more seminars Elliott designed a Getting Past Your Breakup seminar to be held in New York City in November. Registrations are limited but are now open.
The blog still maintains a general "getting past your past" message but the majority of posts are about getting past a breakup. Elliott says, "I never thought that one of the most painful things I've ever experienced would be the thing that helps other people the most. If one person gets something from the difficult times of my life, then it's all been worth it."

Researchers Revisit Edison's Method of Generating Olympic Level Ideas via Unique New Corporate Seminar
Few know that Thomas Edison deliberately mined his unconscious for patent development ideas, taking his famous naps while holding a brick. As the brick fell, he woke with new insights, leading to 1093 U.S. patents. Drawing on three degrees in psychology and forty years experience with the unconscious and dreams, author Stase Michaels maps the unconscious for researchers and provides them with techniques to access it.
