Getting Past a Breakup Announces June Seminar

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 16, 2008 -- After a successful spring seminar and an upcoming book, Getting Past Your Breakup announces one more seminar before it breaks for the summer. The June 7th seminar will be the last seminar until a two-day event in November.

When Susan Elliott started GPYP - The Blog! (http://GettingPastYourPast.wordpress.com) 18 months ago, she expected it would be a way to keep in touch with a handful of her seminar students. But a few weeks later, she penned a post called "Getting Past Your Breakup" and the rest, as they say, is history. Suddenly the blog became a worldwide phenomenon that has spawned an email group, a newsletter, personal coaching services and a book to be published in spring 2009.

The seminars are taught in New York and had previously had just a local following. But after the blog took off, they are now attended by students all over the country. The March seminar was attended by students from 8 U.S. states and an a doctor from Brazil who said it was well worth it. Other students agree and the feedback (http://www.gettingpastyourpast.com/whatourstudentsaressaying.htm) on both the blog and website has been 100 percent positive.

Readers and students like GPYP's tough love but self-care philosophy. The program recommends grieving the relationship, taking stock of the relationship and then redefining your life. The seminars are very positive and work on goal setting but it also encourages the students to work through their loss. The students like the letting-go-while-builidng-up philosophy.

In addition to the blog and seminars, students started asking for "the breakup book" just a few months after her first post. Sensing the need for a book outlining the program, Elliott wrote a book proposal, secured an agent and is now negotiating a book deal with a major publisher.

The June 7th seminar will be the last seminar until a two-day event in November. Elliott usually gives an early fall seminar but is on deadline to deliver the book manuscript in September so the offerings will need to be pared back before until the book is delivered.

GPYP also gives scholarships to the seminars for those who can't afford it. Elliott tries to reserve the scholarships for people coming out of abusive relationships. "It's hard to move past abuse and I try to do everything I can do to help people who have been in abusive situations." Some scholarship money is still available for the June 7 offering.
