(PRWEB) May 28, 2008 -- Design With Joy LLC announced today it is providing a seminar in Orlando and Fort Lauderdale Florida for Continuing Education credit for Architects and Interior Designers, Integrated Spaces: Outdoor Rooms - Indoor Gardens. The 8 hour core course includes 1 hour of barrier free design and 1 hour of sustainability continuing education credit.
Going "green" is the latest buzzword from supermarkets - some now selling reusable grocery bags - to buildings and developments touting their energy efficiency. Green buildings are environmentally friendly. They use water and energy efficiently, avoid paints with harmful chemicals, often have natural landscaping, and may use recycled materials or find new uses from traditional materials. Green building is encouraged by legislation, worldwide communities and individuals are developing voluntary criteria for houses and neighborhoods called Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) or similar program. Landscaping can be one of the most cost-effective ways to turn a house green. Vine-covered "green screens," large trees, and other landscaping should shade Southwestern exterior walls, the driveway, patios, and other "hardscape" to minimize heat islands and lower air conditioning bills. The Integrated Spaces seminar by Design With Joy LLC explores going "green" by discussing sensitive design approaches that respect energy efficiency, economics, sustainable and nonpolluting materials and exploring how plants introduced into our building material palette will significantly improve indoor air quality and aesthetics. The seminar respects professional partnership, approaching design in collaboration to reach beyond our professional specialty to create "green" solutions uniting the functions and forms of the interior and exterior.
Eco luxury is a growing trend that combines ecological values and luxury. Innovative products and services are catering to the growing demand for ecological and sustainable living while still allowing the comforts of luxury. Improving an outdoor space is a relatively easy way to increase your home's footprint, its value, and the day-to-day quality of life you enjoy there. With so many homeowners looking to get as comfy outdoors as they do in their indoor family and living rooms, manufacturers and retailers are responding with an array of solutions to furnish backyard living. Gardens, terraces, patios, and other outdoor rooms continue to be popular means of extending the boundaries of homeowners' living spaces. A growing preference for casual outdoor entertaining is also inspiring a range of affordable and versatile tabletop items to suit every occasion. The Integrated Spaces seminar by Design With Joy LLC explores this eco luxury trend.
An unexpected benefit of outdoor projects is the catalyst of befriending homeowners with their neighbors. Certified LEED homeowner Grace Riggan, says "To develop a garden is an important part of how you live--no matter where you live. It isn't just that you're sitting out there instead of using the AC. The garden can be a real cultural exchange--it opens you up to the community." Sociologist EO Wilson coined 'biophilia' to describe the connection we seek with natural habitats and species.
The course instructor Joy Dorst commented, "We are happy to offer Florida Architects, Interior Designers and other professionals a fun, educational, and cogitatively stimulating seminar as part of our educational offerings". The seminars will are offered June 18, 2008 in Orlando, Florida at the Embassy Suites Hotel Orlando North (Altamonte Springs) and June 20, 2008 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport Hotel. The seminars begin at 8 and end at 5 pm. The seminars are $222.
